Siyolise Schultz Eyes European Tennis Success

Siyolise Schultz, a 15-year-old tennis sensation from Mowbray, is on the cusp of a career-defining leap as she sets her sights on Europe to propel her professional career forward. With a current ranking of sixth in the South African junior rankings, Schultz has already made waves on the international stage, notably defeating Russia’s Alexandria Talina, a top-10 ranked player in the under-16 category, earlier this year.

Her development has been a family-driven effort, with her father, Simthandile Mantile, taking the reins as her full-time coach after she spent five years at a traditional tennis academy. Under his guidance, the focus has shifted to preparing her for the demands of the international circuit, with the immediate goal of breaking into the top 100 of the global junior rankings to secure an entry into the junior tournament at Roland Garros in June 2027.

Path to Success

To achieve this, Schultz will need to accumulate the necessary ITF points, which is why she is heading to Europe. Elite tennis academies in Paris and Cologne have already expressed interest in her talent, and she is scheduled to attend a training block at the MKG Tennis Akademie in Germany, followed by a series of high-level European ITF tournaments through August and September.

Challenges Ahead

However, the road to success is not without its challenges. The costs associated with traveling to Europe, academy fees, and tournament expenses are steep, which is why the family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to support her development. For those looking to contribute to a local athlete’s world-class tennis dream, donations can be made directly to her campaign page, which can be found on the GoFundMe website, a platform that has facilitated countless fundraising campaigns for individuals and causes around the world.

Some of the key tournaments and events that Schultz will participate in include:

  • The European ITF tournaments in August and September
  • The junior tournament at Roland Garros in June 2027
  • Training blocks at elite tennis academies in Paris and Cologne

If her stint in Europe is successful, the plan is to relocate by September to face tougher global competition and take her career to the next level.
