A 45-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder, rape, and kidnapping of a 7-year-old girl in Parkside, Eastern Cape. The child’s body was discovered at a dumpsite in Second Creek, Parkside, on April 4, 2026, according to the South African Police Service. Importance of Community Vigilance

The SAPS praised the quick response of its specialised units. The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any information that could aid investigations into crimes against children. This case highlights the need for communities to be aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

Some of the ways to prevent such crimes include:

  • Ensuring children are supervised at all times
  • Teaching children about stranger danger
  • Encouraging children to report any suspicious activity
  • Building strong relationships with local law enforcement
