Bafana Bafana Visa Issues Resolved for FIFA World Cup

Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, confirmed that Bafana Bafana will travel to the United States on Monday after resolving visa issues that delayed their departure. The team was initially set to depart from OR Tambo International Airport on a chartered flight to Mexico to represent South Africa at the FIFA World Cup on Sunday morning, but the departure was postponed due to administrative mix-ups with visa applications for several players.

McKenzie shared on social media that all Bafana players have received their visas to travel to the USA, but outstanding visas for the assistant coach, team doctor, head of security, and one analyst are still pending. The charter will leave on Monday as scheduled, with the team expected to travel to Mexico City ahead of their opening match against hosts Mexico at the Estadio Azteca on June 11.

Bafana Bafana’s FIFA World Cup Journey

The FIFA World Cup, hosted by the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, will feature Bafana Bafana in their quest for international football glory. The team’s journey to the FIFA World Cup has been marred by controversy, with McKenzie slamming the South African Football Association (SAFA) for the visa bungle, calling for accountability and swift action against those responsible.

The visa issues have raised concerns about the team’s preparation and readiness for the tournament. However, with the issue now resolved, Bafana Bafana can focus on their upcoming matches and making South Africa proud on the international stage.
