A Phalaborwa mother and son have been charged with animal cruelty by the National Council of Societies for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) after a dog died due to prolonged neglect.

The dog allegedly suffered for approximately 14 months before its death, with the NSPCA stating that the suffering was preventable.
