The Miss South Africa Organisation has announced that entries for Miss South Africa 2026 will open on April 28, 2026, and close on May 17, 2026. This year’s edition marks a new chapter for the national pageant, with the organisation strengthening its position as a leadership and empowerment platform focused on social transformation.
The pageant is now positioned not as a once-off stage event, but as a year-long structured leadership development journey aimed at shaping women into credible ambassadors capable of serving, communicating, and driving impact in communities across South Africa and beyond. According to the organisation, Miss South Africa 2026 is calling on purpose-driven South African women to enter a rigorous leadership journey defined by coaching, assessment, and accountability.
Empower Youth Africa Programme
At the heart of the new direction is Empower Youth Africa (EYA), the official social impact programme of Miss South Africa. EYA is designed to translate influence into action, with a focus on youth and women empowerment through initiatives including youth employment pathways, entrepreneurship and skills development, health and wellness with an emphasis on mental wellbeing, education access, scholarships, digital learning, civic engagement, leadership development, and Pan-African collaboration.
Miss South Africa Patron Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe said the pageant has evolved into a platform focused on measurable impact and leadership development. “Miss South Africa has entered a new era, one focused on creating impact at scale,” she said. “This platform is designed to work with the winner and every contestant, equipping them to contribute meaningfully on both local and global platforms. Through structured development and initiatives like Empower Youth Africa, we are building a pipeline of ambassadors who understand their responsibility to society and are prepared to lead, influence and drive real change beyond the crown.”
Requirements for Applicants
The organisation says this year’s event is calling on women who are ready to represent a national institution and understand that leadership is earned through service and preparation. Applicants should only enter if they are prepared to be coached, assessed and held accountable; able to perform under pressure with professionalism; willing to be tested on leadership, communication, integrity and conduct; ready to commit time to programme requirements and impact work; and motivated by purpose rather than attention or status.
