KZN Family Massacre: 7 Lives Lost in Brutal Killings

A mass funeral service was held at the Stanger High School sports ground on Sunday for the Monswamy family, who were brutally murdered in their home in Newark, on the north coast of KwaZulu-Natal. The family of seven, including Allen and Sandy Monswamy, their children Kraidon and Shamarie, and relatives Cliffy Padayachee, Mooniamma Padayachee, and Mariamma Appanah, were laid to rest after their bodies were found in the Eshowe area.

The killings have sent shockwaves throughout the community, with KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli describing the incident as a “shaken conscience” of the province. The Premier was among the dignitaries in attendance at the funeral service, which was also attended by family members and friends of the deceased.

KZN Family Massacre: A Betrayal of Trust

According to the police, the suspects, who are known to the family, forced their way into the Monswamy home, kidnapped the victims, and later murdered them. The motive behind the killings is believed to be driven by betrayal and greed, with the suspects allegedly having a personal connection to the family.

Vimlasen Pillay, a family spokesperson, said that the family is still trying to come to terms with the loss of their loved ones. “Our family is very disoriented at this time of bereavement,” Pillay said. He also confirmed that two of the suspects were apparently known to the family, having worked with Allen Monswamy in his construction business.

Investigation Ongoing

The police have confirmed that one suspect is still at large, and the investigation is ongoing. The South African Police Service has urged anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation. The Office of the Premier has also paid for the funeral expenses of the Monswamy family.

The community has come together to support the family during this difficult time, with many attending the funeral service to pay their respects. Premier Ntuli praised the community for their resilience and unity in the face of tragedy, saying, “It is during times like these that we witness the remarkable resilience and unity of our community.”

As the family prepares to face the suspects in court, they are still trying to make sense of the senseless killings. The incident has raised questions about the safety and security of communities in KwaZulu-Natal, with many calling for increased measures to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
