The Hawks have made a significant breakthrough in their fight against counterfeit goods, seizing over R1 million worth of fake industrial welding accessories in a warehouse in Luipaardsvlei, Krugersdorp. The operation, carried out by the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit, was conducted in collaboration with brand holders after authorities were tipped off through a law firm.
According to the Hawks spokesperson, Colonel Katlego Mogale, the team received information that a certain company in Luipaardsvlei was selling counterfeit Hypertherm products using concealment methods to evade detection. Following the tip-off, law enforcement secured a search and seizure warrant, which was executed on Thursday morning.

The seized items, which include 3236 units of electrodes, watertubes, shields, and packaging, will form part of an ongoing investigation into possible intellectual property violations and commercial crime.
