Attorney and certified fraud examiner Sarah-Jane Trent has revealed shocking connections between high-ranking government officials and key institutions, including President Cyril Ramaphosa’s advisor Bejani Chauke, in her testimony before the Ad Hoc Committee.
This comes after Trent’s former boss, fraud examiner Paul O’Sullivan, concluded his evidence following his walkout a week before, and previous testimonies had focused on former Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) head Robert McBride.
Corruption Allegations
Trent’s evidence shed more light on her relationship with McBride and Chauke, and how they plotted the downfall of former acting national commissioner Khomotso Phahlane. ANC MP Xola Nqola stated that among the strategies employed was that Trent dated McBride, and the other must provide financial resources as a way of capturing to execute the programme of collapse of Phahlane.
President Cyril Ramaphosa’s adviser Bejani Chauke was also implicated in the scandal, with Trent stating that she met Chauke at O’Sullivan’s non-profit organisation, Forensic for Justice, when her former boss reached out to someone who could communicate with Ramaphosa.

Trent stated that she met Chauke when O’Sullivan wanted to speak to Andile Ramaphosa, the President’s son, about allegations against him. Andile Ramaphosa was paid R2 million by the controversial corruption-implicated Bosasa company.
