The Pinelands High School Jazz Band has taken the runner-up spot in the highly competitive Band Slam Finals, held at the V & A Waterfront amphitheatre on May 15. Settlers High School in Bellville claimed the top spot, while Rustenburg Girls’ High School secured third place.
Band Slam is a prestigious schools music competition that provides high school bands in the Western Cape with a platform to perform live and share their music with a broader audience. This year, the competition drew in 44 entries from high schools across the province, with 15 semifinalists selected to perform over four nights. The field was then narrowed down to three schools, which competed in the finals.
