A mass shooting in Delft on Wednesday night claimed the lives of four people, including a 13-year-old boy. The shooting took place in Zandkloof Street, Voorbrug, where the four victims, between the ages of 13 to 41, were found in a granny flat – each with gunshot wounds to the head.

Police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut confirmed that the motive for the attack is believed to be gang-related. The South African Police Service condemns the senseless gang-related murder of four males in Voorbrug in Delft on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

Gang-Related Violence on the Rise

According to preliminary information, two unknown male suspects entered the dwelling on foot, opened fire, and fled the scene on foot. The Anti-Gang Unit is investigating the matter, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the suspects. In a separate incident, a 54-year-old man was gunned down on Thursday afternoon in the parking area at the Rondebosch Village Centre while seated inside his car. It is reported that the deceased was sitting in his vehicle at the shopping centre when an unknown gunman fired multiple shots into the car. The victim was declared deceased on the scene.
