Businessman and philanthropist Vivian Reddy has donated R50,000 to officially kickstart the “10 Calls of Kindness” Telethon in support of the Merewent Cheshire Home, with the Sibaya Community Trust, to which he is the chairman, raising more than R100,000 above his donation.
Reddy has now challenged 10 business leaders to match or exceed R100 000 each, which will go towards settling the home’s municipal account and assisting with transport needs. Merewent Cheshire Home provides essential residential care, dignity, and support to individuals living with severe physical disabilities.
Supporting a Noble Cause
The home is facing serious financial challenges that threaten its ability to continue delivering critical services. According to Raven Naidoo, chairperson of the Merewent Cheshire Home, “The generous contribution by Vivian Reddy is more than a donation – it is a call to action.”
Naidoo urged corporates and individuals alike to come forward and support this cause. “Together, we can ensure that our residents continue to live with dignity, care, and hope,” he said.
