VICTOR MAJOLA TO REMAIN BEHIND BARS IN DJ WARRAS MURDER CASE

JOHANNESBURG, Gauteng — The Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court has officially denied bail to Victor Majola, the man accused of orchestrating the cold-blooded assassination of media personality Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock.

In a ruling delivered on Monday afternoon, January 26, 2026, the court sided with the State and the grieving Stock family, finding that the risk of Majola evading trial or intimidating witnesses was too high to justify his release.

The Court’s Decision: A “Flight Risk” and “Safety Concern”

The magistrate emphasized that the State had presented a compelling case against Majola, particularly regarding his alleged role as the mastermind behind the hit.

  • The KZN Factor: The court acknowledged the specific fears raised by DJ Warras’ mother, Beverly Stock, regarding Majola’s ability to “vanish” into the foothills of KwaZulu-Natal. The magistrate agreed that Majola’s ties to rural KZN made him a significant flight risk.
  • Witness Intimidation: Given the “planned and organized” nature of the murder, the court found that there was a high probability that Majola could use his freedom to interfere with key witnesses, some of whom are reportedly already in fear for their lives.
  • Evidence Strength: The digital evidence found on Majola’s phone—containing the personal details of both DJ Warras and his partner—was cited as a strong link that Majola has yet to satisfactorily explain.

Relief for the Stock Family

Outside the court, Beverly Stock expressed immense relief at the decision.

“Today, we can breathe a small sigh of relief. My son is gone, and nothing brings him back, but knowing his accused killer is staying in a cell gives us some sense of safety and justice,” she told reporters.

The family has been vocal throughout the bail application, maintaining that DJ Warras was “hunted” and that his death has left a permanent void in the South African entertainment industry.

What’s Next for the Case?

With bail officially denied, Victor Majola will remain in custody as the case moves toward a full trial.

  • Postponement: The matter has been postponed to March 2026 for further investigation and for the State to finalize its indictment.
  • Ongoing Hunt: Police have indicated that while Majola is believed to be the “orchestrator,” the investigation into the actual gunmen who pulled the trigger in the Johannesburg CBD last month is still active.

The death of DJ Warras continues to highlight the rising trend of targeted hits in South Africa, but for today, the justice system has ensured that the man accused of planning the tragedy will face the consequences from behind bars.
