A powerful low-pressure system is moving across South Africa, bringing severe thunderstorms and a risk of flooding to six provinces. According to the South African Weather Service, a Yellow Level 4 warning has been issued for the south-eastern parts of Mpumalanga and northern KwaZulu-Natal, where heavy downpours and strong winds are expected.
The warning system, which uses a colour-coded approach to indicate the level of risk, has also issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for southern Gauteng, the southern and escarpment areas of Mpumalanga, southern KwaZulu-Natal, central and eastern Northern Cape, Free State, and large parts of the North West. This warning indicates a moderate risk of impact, requiring caution and awareness.
Provincial Weather Forecast
The weather forecast for the next 24 hours indicates that partly cloudy and warm to cool conditions can be expected, with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers possible over the central and eastern parts of the country. However, widespread showers are expected in KwaZulu-Natal.
