The Sharks have secured a crucial 21-15 United Rugby Championship (URC) win over Cardiff at Kings Park, moving up to 10th in the standings. The home side surged into a 21-12 halftime lead and managed to hold off the visitors in a scrappy second half.

Sharks coach JP Pietersen made a bold decision to replace his entire front row while his team was down to 14 men, bringing on Springbok props Ox Nche and Vincent Koch, as well as hooker Ethan Hooker. This move paid off as the team regained control of the match and scored two more tries before halftime.

First Half Dominance

The Sharks scored the first try of the match off a lineout maul, with Phepsi Buthelezi powering over the whitewash in the sixth minute. Flyhalf Jordan Hendrikse added the extra two points. The visitors hit back with a try in the corner by Mason Grady, but the Sharks responded with two more tries before halftime, including a brilliant individual effort by Yaw Penxe.

Second Half Arm-Wrestle

The second half was a tightly contested affair, with both teams struggling to create scoring opportunities. A penalty brought the visitors within six points in the closing minutes, but the Sharks managed to hold on for a 21-15 win.
