Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, has expressed concern over the arrest of Randburg prosecutor Dinesh Nandkisoor on multiple sexual assault charges. Nandkisoor appeared before the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court and faces charges related to allegations of sexual assault, sexual intimidation, corruption, and defeating the ends of justice.
The incidents leading to the charges stem from a troubling allegation that a complainant had sought Nandkisoor’s assistance regarding a matter involving her brother. However, during a later interaction, it is alleged that he engaged in inappropriate conduct, which culminated in attempts to dissuade her from reporting the incident to authorities.
Accountability Within the Justice System
The Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Development has emphasized the importance of accountability within the justice system. According to the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, the National Prosecuting Authority is responsible for ensuring that all allegations of misconduct are thoroughly investigated and prosecuted.
The case has been postponed to March 30, 2026, for a formal bail application. Reports indicate that the State intends to oppose bail, and Nandkisoor remains in custody as these serious allegations continue to unfold.
Key Allegations
The allegations against Nandkisoor include:
- Sexual assault
- Sexual intimidation
- Corruption
- Defeating the ends of justice
The Ministry supports the work of law enforcement agencies and the National Prosecuting Authority in ensuring that the matter is properly investigated and prosecuted, stated Kubayi.
