Residents of Bishop Lavis are on high alert following the shooting death of an alleged gang leader in Elsies River. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday afternoon, has left one dead and another wounded, prompting fears of further retaliation.
The deceased, a 42-year-old male, was gunned down while driving his lime green Toyota Auris at the intersection of 35 Street and Old Stellenbosch Road around 2pm. Eyewitnesses report that multiple shots rang out, leaving his body slumped over the steering wheel.
His passenger, aged 54, was also struck by gunfire and required immediate medical attention. According to South African Police Service, the passenger suffered two gunshot wounds and is currently receiving treatment at a local medical facility.
