Armand Duplantis Breaks Pole Vault Record 15th Time at 6.31m

Armand Duplantis has once again cemented his position as the world’s best pole vaulter, breaking his own record for the 15th time with a staggering 6.31m jump at the meet bearing his name in Uppsala, Sweden.

The 26-year-old Swedish athlete, who has been dominating the sport since his early 20s, cleared the bar with ease on his first attempt, leaving the crowd in awe. This achievement marks the second time Duplantis has broken the world record in Sweden, with his previous record being 6.28m in Stockholm last June.

Pole Vault Technique

Duplantis attributed his success to his ability to master a stiffer pole, which he achieved by lengthening his run-up. According to the athlete, this new technique allowed him to push himself to the limit and achieve a truly great feeling. As explained on the World Athletics website, the pole vault is a highly technical event that requires a combination of speed, strength, and agility.

Norway’s Sondre Guttormsen came in second with a leap of 6.00m, while Emmanouil Karalis, who had previously cleared 6.17m at the Greek indoor championship, failed to clear the bar at 6.00m. Duplantis will have the opportunity to increase his brand-new world record at the World Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland, at the end of March.

Upcoming Competitions

Some of the upcoming competitions that fans can look forward to include:

  • World Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland
  • Outdoor season, which will feature several high-profile events
  • Potential record-breaking attempts by Duplantis and other athletes

Duplantis’s consistent performance and dedication to his craft have earned him a reputation as one of the greatest pole vaulters in history. As noted on Wikipedia, Duplantis has been breaking records since his early 20s and shows no signs of slowing down.
