Puppy Thrown from Vehicle in Chatsworth

A 10-week-old puppy, named Mckenzie, remains fearful of humans after being tied in a sack and thrown from a moving vehicle in Chatsworth on Wednesday night. According to Pat Naidoo, an animal rights activist in Chatsworth, the incident occurred near the Moorton Shopping Centre. A woman walking out of the shopping centre witnessed an Indian man throwing the sack out of the car, and another passerby opened the sack after hearing yelps from inside.

The puppy ran across the road, sat terrified outside a house, and was crying from fear. It would not let anyone near it, and Naidoo stated that the dog was scared of touch and suffered from severe trauma. The dog was taken in by the KZN Doghouse until a foster home is found.

Animal Cruelty on the Rise

Naidoo expressed concerns about the increase in animal cruelty cases in Chatsworth, citing a recent incident where a one-week-old pup was tied to a street pole and abandoned, and a six-week-old pup was thrown from a moving vehicle in Crossmoor. These incidents highlight the need for residents to report acts of animal abuse and for the community to come together to prevent such incidents.

What You Can Do to Help

Residents can assist by reporting any acts of animal cruelty to the authorities and by opening their hearts to foster abused and abandoned puppies. As stated on the Animal Welfare Society of South Africa website, animal welfare is a collective responsibility, and every individual can make a difference. Mckenzie and other puppies like him need a safe and loving environment to recover from their traumatic experiences.

Some ways to help include:

  • Volunteering at local animal shelters
  • Fostering abused and abandoned puppies
  • Reporting acts of animal cruelty to the authorities
  • Spreading awareness about animal welfare and the importance of treating animals with kindness and respect

By working together, we can create a safer and more compassionate environment for animals like Mckenzie.
