ActionSA has announced the termination of Kholofelo Morodi’s membership, following a disciplinary process linked to allegations arising from testimony before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry. This decision was taken after a thorough and procedurally fair process, according to the party.
The Gauteng Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) reviewed evidence related to conduct inconsistent with the values, constitution, and code of conduct of ActionSA, including provisions of the party’s Interim Constitution concerning actions that bring the Party into disrepute.
Disciplinary Process
“Morodi was formally notified of the allegations, afforded an opportunity to respond, granted an extension, and ultimately provided with a 72-hour period to make representations. The PEC considered all submissions received before arriving at its decision,” the party said.
ActionSA takes matters of integrity, accountability, and ethical conduct with the utmost seriousness, particularly where public office and public trust are concerned. Members of ActionSA are held to these standards without exception, as stated on the South African Parliament website.
Executive Mayor’s Announcement
Executive Mayor Nasiphi Moya announced Morodi’s removal, stating that he had noted the testimony presented before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry and the matters relating to the MMC for Corporate and Shared Services, Cllr Kholofelo Morodi.
“Based on this assessment, I am not satisfied that the concerns raised have been adequately addressed. The material before me reflects a pattern of engagement and conduct over an extended period, including an inappropriate relationship between Cllr Morodi and Sergeant Nkosi, which raises serious concerns regarding the handling of information and adherence to the standards expected of members of the executive,” Moya said.
Here are some key points to consider:
- ActionSA has terminated Kholofelo Morodi’s membership due to allegations arising from the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
- The disciplinary process was thorough and procedurally fair, according to the party.
- The PEC reviewed evidence related to conduct inconsistent with the values, constitution, and code of conduct of ActionSA.
This decision underscores the importance of acting decisively where concerns arise, as stated by the ActionSA party.</p)
