Verushka Singh, the first Indian South African to hold the title, has formally resigned from her position as Mrs South Africa 2026. According to the pageant organiser’s Facebook page, Singh has chosen to step down to focus on important personal priorities and to prioritise her family.

Mrs South Africa Tradition

Singh expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to have served on this platform and for the incredible women she had the privilege of standing alongside. She stated that this decision is entirely her own, made with her family’s needs at heart, and she steps away with nothing but appreciation for Mrs South Africa and what it stands for.

The 39-year-old, of Steyn City, Johannesburg, is a climate change consultant and chemical engineering graduate from the University of the Witwatersrand. As stated on the University of the Witwatersrand website, the institution is committed to academic excellence and social responsibility.

Succession Protocol

In keeping with Mrs South Africa tradition and succession protocol, First Princess Carika Bebb will assume the duties and responsibilities of Mrs South Africa 2026 with immediate effect. Bebb stated that it is an honour to step into this role and to continue the work of this incredible women empowerment platform.

She added that she is committed to representing Mrs South Africa with purpose and pride, and looks forward to making a meaningful difference through the causes close to her heart.
