Ismail Abrahams, popularly known as the ‘DJ Man’, is leaving radio station Metro FM after 16 years on the airwaves. The legendary DJ announced his departure on Instagram, thanking Metro FM and its listeners for their support over the years. Abrahams started his radio career in retail radio and hosted a late-night show, ‘After the groove’, on Metro FM.
According to the SABC’s Wikipedia page, Metro FM is one of the largest radio stations in South Africa, with a wide reach and diverse audience. Abrahams’ departure was announced as part of the station’s new 2026 line-up, which includes new additions such as Siyabonga ‘Scoop’ Ngwekazi and Nomuzi ‘Moozlie’ Mabena.
New Additions to Metro FM
The new line-up also includes Ricardo Genesis, a young broadcaster from VOW FM, who will take over Abrahams’ slot. Thato Immaculate, who hosted Metro FM Weekends with The Naked DJ, is also leaving the station after two years. Mvangeli Nzuza will take over from Paulette Neo Kayise as the station’s weekday traffic reporter.
