Kempton Park Crash: 6-Week-Old Baby Killed, 17 Injured

A devastating collision in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, has left a six-week-old baby dead and 17 others injured. The crash occurred on 9th Road in Bredell on Wednesday at 12:00, involving a Toyota Quantum with 15 occupants and a Nissan Hardbody double cab with three occupants, which are suspected to have collided head-on.

According to the City of Ekurhuleni’s emergency management services, rescue teams were called to the scene, where they found the wreckage of the two vehicles. Spokesperson William Ntladi said that upon arrival, teams declared one patient, the six-week-old infant, dead at the scene. Five other patients, including the drivers of both vehicles, sustained critical injuries and were transported to various hospitals around the City of Ekurhuleni.

Kempton Park Collision Aftermath

Twelve other patients were transported by private ambulances to the hospital in a serious but stable condition. The City of Ekurhuleni’s emergency management services had to temporarily close 9th Road to traffic due to the severity of the collision. The City of Ekurhuleni has urged motorists to use alternative routes until the road is reopened.
