Clicks has recalled over 1,100 units of Made for Tots Corn Puffs Chicken 12g due to concerns of Listeria contamination, the National Consumer Commission (NCC) announced. The recall affects products sold at Clicks stores in South Africa and online, as well as those distributed to Lesotho.
According to the NCC, the affected batch tested positive for non-pathogenic Listeria contamination. While the type of Listeria is generally non-pathogenic to humans, there have been rare and isolated reports of human disease. Consumers are urged to look out for the following information to confirm whether the product in their possession is affected.
What to Do If You Have the Affected Product
Consumers with the affected products are advised not to consume them and to immediately return them to any Clicks store for a full refund or replacement, with or without any proof of purchase. The NCC is monitoring this recall to ensure full compliance with the Consumer Protection Act.
Importance of Supplier Accountability
The NCC’s Acting Commissioner, Hardin Ratshisusu, emphasized the importance of suppliers providing safe and high-quality products. As the world marks World Consumer Rights Day with the theme Safe Products, Confident Consumers, Ratshisusu reminded suppliers of their obligation to provide goods of good quality, free of defects, usable and durable.
