A dramatic shootout between police and suspects in KwaZulu-Natal has left two men dead, according to reports from the scene. The incident occurred near a petrol station in Spine Road, Westville, Durban, on Thursday morning. ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after 06:30 to find the area secured by emergency teams, including the South African Police Service (SAPS) and private security officials.

The occupants of a vehicle had allegedly been pursued by law enforcement before a shootout broke out near the petrol station. Inside the vehicle, paramedics found the body of a man who had been shot. The second man attempted to flee on foot but fell to the ground and died after jumping over a wall, Jamieson said.

The paramedic service was called to the scene after reports of a shootout between police and suspects. When they arrived, they found the area quickly secured as emergency teams assessed the situation. The SAPS, as stated on their official website (South African Police Service), has a mandate to prevent and investigate crime.
