INANDA, KwaZulu-Natal — A high-stakes manhunt ended in a hail of gunfire early Saturday morning when KwaZulu-Natal police intercepted two wanted suspects in the Inanda area.
The suspects, who were linked to a string of violent crimes including murder and business robberies, were cornered by the KZN Provincial Tracking Team following a tactical intelligence operation. According to police reports, the fugitives opened fire on officers as they approached their hideout, triggering a lethal shootout.
Both suspects were fatally wounded in the exchange. Police recovered two unlicensed firearms and ammunition at the scene. No officers were injured during the confrontation.
KZN Police Commissioner Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi reiterated that the “shoot-to-kill” response remains a reality for criminals who choose to engage law enforcement with deadly force. “Our officers will not hesitate to defend themselves and the community when faced with armed aggression,” the department stated.
